Usually, gospel music annoys the heck out of me. I often think, how many times do you need to repeat that corous. Today I needed it. With roots in jazz and blues, gospel music speaks to the heart that is heavy. Something about hearing the pain and weariness in the gospel songs reminds me of Job. Lyrics like "God's got a blessing" and "Jesus will see you through" help refocus the mind and heart on the faith that the believer rests on.
Throwing in the instrumentals and tight harmonies turns my pity party into a celebration. This white boy needed some gospel music today.
