A Nephew and a New Roommate

mike with brody

Here I am holding my nephew Brody. He's just a couple of weeks old. You can see my brother's arm and a pillow holding on just in case. What a blessing!

Actually holding Brody - my brother's son - was one of those epiphanies. As a bachelor it's been me, myself and I. Nobody depending on me means there's a lot of room for error. Humm. All behind now!

When I got back I inherited a roommate -- Princess is a Lhasa Opsa. She belonged to a friend who passed away a few months back. As much as I never wanted another roommate (dogs included), having Princess around is nice. My friend and his wife spolied my brother and me... and I intend to do the same.

So, the connection? Having those independent years is nice. It's part of growing up to stretch my wings. But having someone at home who counts on me being here is nice too. It's purpose, accountability, partnership and commitment.

I agree..that is why I love my little Samantha Sue. she keeps me on my toes and helps me realize it is not all about me. You look adorable holding your nephew! You will make a great father someday and don't you forget that!!!!
