Responding to God's Call

This morning I'm reading about Gideon [Judges 6]. He was a guy at work when the Angel of the Lord told him Gideon was the guy God would use to free Israel from the Midians, who had conquered them. Now, Gideon wasn't sure God had the right guy, so he brought the guy a meal. This caught me off guard because my natural tendency is to ask God to do something to prove himself. Instead, Gideon gave him something. Now, the angel did prove he was God miraculously and Gideon did follow the Lord. But his initial response was to give. Can I afford to give God something when he calls? This is a test of my faith. God isn't in this for me to get more, but to pour out His blessings on this world through me.
