Science has provided us tremendous opportunities for comfort, communication, and health care. We live longer and more comfortably than people in our history. Research has led to controversy too. We no longer argue whether the earth is the center of the universe and in the next decades, few will argue that the world is less than a few million years old.
Many practical advances have been made in contention with philosophical and religious views. History often looks favorably on these advances. We have to look at our own significant changes in scientific research. Human cloning in here and we have to figure out why we feel so strongly about it and whether our apprehensions or enthusiasm are justified.
