Fishing Day on Lake Nacogdoches

I had a great day on Lake Nacogdoches at the 6th Annual Sports Day for People with Disabilities. Each year the Mayor's Council on People with Disabilities sponsors this event. We had a lot of fun working with adaptive fishing equipment and getting out on the water in pontoon boats. We had ove 50 people come out to the lake. Several college students from the SFA Kinesiology Dept. helped out and a couple from Kansas brought their equipment and helped us set up our rigs. This was the first time I fished in 11 years. What fun! I mastered catch-and-release. I'd catch the fish and they'd release themselves! FYI, set the hook before you try reeling the fish in. Aw, who wants to get slimy anyhow! Enjoy the pics. Locals brought out their pontoon boats and gave several folks rides on the lake. Jeremy and his wife caught a couple of fish out there. The Wheelchair-accessible pier is a great place to wet a hook. And look at that glassy smooth water! I felt like king of the sea! Anchors aweigh. The sunrise on Lake Nac was beautiful! Volunteers and members of the Mayor's Committee enjoyed the event.
